Sister Frances Briseño, OSB is a native of Comfort, TX. She is the oldest of two children. She entered the Benedictines in 1967 and has served in many capacities in the community. She served as Prioress in 1992, as vocation director, as Oblate Director, director of on-going formation, member of the council several times through the years, and as Administrator of Omega Retreat Center, and was a member of several community committees. In 2018 Sister was elected Prioress for a second time.
She holds an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University and in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Ministries include: Education at St. Benedict’s, Holy Spirit, St. Philip, St. Albert Hall; Pastoral Associate at Sacred Heart Church in Comfort, TX., St. Francis of Assisi Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in San Antonio. She was Associate Director of RENEW in the Archdiocese from 1989-1992 and worked as a Chaplain at Bexar County Detention Center. She has volunteered at the Residential Center at Dilley, Tx. helping with immigrant women and children and hopes to return there soon.
Sister is a Spiritual Director and has led many retreats through the years. Her favorite scripture is: For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, plans for your good and not for harm, plans to give you a future full of hope. When you call me when you pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, you will find me with you says the LORD—and I will change your life. Jeremiah 29:11-13
