Sister Mary Rose Goertz, OSB was born in Rockne, Texas, one of twelve children. She has been a Benedictine Sister since 1948. As one of our nonagenarians, Sister still does what she can to the best of her abilities. She is sensitive to the needs of others and she enjoys helping people.
Sister Mary Rose has served in many ministries including teaching; St. Benedict’s Hospital and Nursing Home where she worked as an LVN and Dietician; and Leadership of our Community, as Sub-Prioress for 8 years and Prioress for 6 years. In 1989 she began working at the Omega Retreat Center in Boerne, first in the office, and then in food service. She served at Omega for nearly 30 years. Sister enjoys reading and telling stories to children. Sister recently commented about her lifetime of service saying, “Throughout the years of my work, I hope that I have made a difference in the lives of those whom I served.”
