Sister Michael Brandt, OSB was born in San Antonio, Texas. She is the oldest in the family with three younger brothers. She became a Benedictine Sister in 1964. Her education includes degrees/certification in science, math, education, and management. She also attended the 2019 fall session of the Ministry to Ministers program at Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio.
Sister has served in the ministries of teaching and school administration, as well as Director of Benedictine Ministries. Over the years, she has been active in the internal ministry of her Benedictine Community, serving on various committees as well as the Sisters’ Council. Currently she assists with the Oblate Program.
Besides cooking, collecting recipes, and growing herbs, Sister Michael is now “working on” computer-based Spanish lessons. She is also very involved in animal advocacy and has been a volunteer at the Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation near Boerne since summer 2019.
Her favorite instruction from the Rule of Benedict is ” Listen,” while one of her favorite scripture passages is “Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.”- Romans 12:2.
